Beyer Takes First Place in AAA at MIV

October 10, 2011

The Beyer High School Band and Color Guard opened its 2011 fall season with a very good performance in class AAA at the Modesto Marching Band Invitational (MIV) on October 8 at Johansen High School. Performing their show “Two Roads”, an original composition by Assistant Band Director Nate Bourg and staff member Shekhar Khedekar, the band and color guard performed a show that had only been completed a week earlier, finishing with a score of 71.25.

In addition to the first place award, Beyer claimed four of five caption awards including Best General Effect, Best Visual Performance, Best Percussion, and Best Color Guard in class AAA. Kingsburg High School won the award for Best Music. Clovis East High School claimed the top trophy for combined class A/AA/AAA with a score of 74.35, competing in the AA class.

Recognition and special thanks go to Director Marcos Rivera, Principal Dan Park and the administrative team at Beyer, the Beyer Band Boosters, and especially the Beyer Blue Crew for all of their assistance and support.

The next competition for Beyer is the Sierra Cup at Fresno State University on October 29, where 31 bands from all over California will compete at Bulldog Stadium.
