Fred C. Beyer High School Nate Bourg |
Nate Bourg began his musical experience as a piano student at age 7. He continued his musical studies at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, CA, and studied under world renown artist Anthony Cirone at San Jose State University from 1998-2000. From 1999-2002, Nate was a member of the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps front ensemble under Jim Casella, Jim Ancona, and David Reeves. Other influential teachers include Ronald Graham, Dennis Aquilina, Murray Gusseck, David Flores, Glen Crosby, Ralph Hardimon, and Dr. Timothy Duncan. Nate's memorable achievements include WGI silver medals in 1997 with Amador Valley High School (Scholastic Concert) and 2004 with Beyer High School (Scholastic 'A'), WGI bronze medals with Fever Winterguard in 2005 (soundtrack composer) and Beyer High School in 2007 (Scholastic Open), 1999 DCI Championship title with the Santa Clara Vanguard, DCI I&E Percussion Ensemble Championship in 2002 with Vanguard, the DCI Division II High Percussion award with the Vanguard Cadets in 2004, 2008 DCI Open Class Championship and High Percussion with Vanguard Cadets, and the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 WBA AAA championship with Beyer High School. In addition, Nate was named Most Outstanding Digital Audio Student at Cogswell Polytechnical College in 2007. Nate was the front ensemble technician for the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps from 2005-2007. He has been involved with the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets since 2003, and is currently their Music Coordinator and Front Ensemble Composer. Presently, Nate is the front ensemble arranger for the San Jose State University Marching Band, the Assistant Band Director and Wind/Front Ensemble Arranger at Beyer High School, and Manager of the Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets Winter Percussion. Nate also has several of his arrangements and compositions published at Gary P. Gilroy Publications. Nate holds his B.S. in Digital Audio Technology with emphasis in Music Composition and Arranging from Cogswell Polytechnical College. He currently resides in San Francisco, CA.
