Dale Pauly
Battery Technician

Dale Pauly began began his musical journey during the third grade, when he began taking percussion, piano and guitar lessons. He quickly settled on percussion and drum set. During his middle school years, he became engrossed in performing, as he progressed musically in jazz, concert and general percussive knowledge. Dale attended Foothill High School in Pleasanton, CA, where he was exposed to the marching activity that would readily occupy such a large amount of his time and focus. He performed in jazz bands and combos, wind ensembles and concert bands all four years of high school and was privileged to travel to Europe as part of a Northern California all-star band. During his four years, the marching band would win numerous NCBA circuit championships and drum titles. He played snare drum for four years in the winter percussion program and helped lead the group to a championship in 2002. Following his graduation in 2004, he became a staff member with the band and percussion group, helping the band and percussion group to more titles, culminating in a 2007 NCBA winter percussion championship. He has also works at Monte Vista High School and as a private instructor.

Besides high school bands and ensembles, Dale marched snare with the 2006 Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets, 2007 Mandarins and 2008 Freelancer WGI group. He returned to the Vanguard organization as a snare technician in the summer of 2008 to help the corps to an Open Class Division Championship, as well as the high percussion award. His musical inspirations include Mark Aubel, Ed Cloyd, Rick Yee, Ben Prima, Kohei Mizushima, Shekhar Khedekar, Dave Dilullo, Blair Williams, Brian Aguilar, Steve Urata, Casey Brohard, Chris Trujilo and Roger Carter.
