Beyer Marches at Relay for Life Event
May 31st, 2009

The Beyer Band and Color Guard performed on Saturday, May 30th at the Modesto Relay For Life Opening Ceremony. The band opened the event with the National anthem and were thanked by the Mayor. Following speeches by sponsors of the event and an inspirational speech by a cancer survivor, the band and color guard let the survivors for one lap around the track at Johansen Stadium while playing a march. Special thanks to Trish Christensen for getting the band and guard such a great opportunity! If anyone has pictures of the event please email them to us.

Also we received this letter from Cheryl Casey with the Moesto Relay for Life event:

Dear Beyer High School Marching Band and Color Guard,

On behalf of the Modesto Relay for Life, thank you so much for coming to the Opening Ceremony and helping us get the event started. Having you there added extra excitement as we gathered to honor the cancer survivors and family members who were there. As I stood on the side of the track and clapped for everyone, the line of people behind you went on and on and on. We honored many people on Saturday morning and you were an important part of doing that. I appreciate you giving up your last Saturday morning of the school year and thank you so much for your contribution to such a worthy cause.

Sincerely,
Cheryl Casey
